Yi is 10!

A special collaboration to bring wearable art on watch strap and other leather accessories to celebrate this special milestone. We wanted to combine both of our craft to create something that everyone can carry or wear and a story to tell. As such our first collection is focus on things we loved such as robots, universe and space. 

As someone who always think a watch strap should always complement the watch rather than stealing the limelight, the hand painted strap brings the notion to another level, that is with a story to tell. Behind every creation, the timepiece will become like an art piece with many details coming together such as strap colour choice, leather type, stitching colour as well as how the artist uses her magic hand to tastefully blend her colour palette. Similar to crafting a pair of strap, it can take at least 4 - 6 hours to complete painting on the strap as most requires layering and time for the leather acrylic paint to dry.

Aries Liew – “Believe, Create, Never Give up”

Aries Liew is a self-taught artist who dived into the world of art because of the love for drawing. She had spent 10 years within the finance industry but she knew that this was not her true calling dealing with numbers. Without a portfolio or any relevant job experience, she was given an opportunity within the advertising industry which allow her to further hone her design and creative skills that eventually landed her an in-house design role.

With the strong desire to embrace artistic freedom coupled with her design experiences, she took a leap of faith in becoming a full-time freelance artist. During this time, she was given the opportunity to explore leather painting which is different from her usual works. Other than providing her service to end consumer, she collaborated with local strap atelier Yi Leather for their 10th year anniversary to create a series of hand painted watch straps and small leather items.
